１８８＝いち、はち、はち、と呼んでください。社名です。正式には、「株式会社一八八」。ミナミは千日前の艶街、料理屋の女将だったおばあちゃんが残してくれた6坪のスナックを改造するところから、私たちのデザインは始まりました。かつては、古いバーカウンターの上に、マック3台、デザイナー3人! 現在は、スタッフ７名＋犬二匹となりましたが、昔も今も、シゴトの基準は、「好きなこと、好きなひと」。舞台関係のグラフィックと女の裸しか描かないアートディレクター東 學、犬の散歩にあけくれるコピーライター村上美香、ゆるキャライラストが得意な山脇多佳代、２２才で１児の母となったデザイナー森田梨加、女子力向上につとめるデザイナー中村佳苗、宝塚に憧れるデザイナー北村美沙子、そして、そんなメンバーを「買ってしまった」千日前の買物王、システムデザイナー北口裕康（身長188cm）をメインに、会社組織で活動しています。そんなメンツで会社が成り立つのか!? 答えは、イエス。好きなことをシゴトにするという徹底的な責任と覚悟と遊び心のもと、188は舞台・テレビ・イベントなどを中心とした幅広いビジュアルプレゼンテーションを行っています。今年で、１０周年。
We started our design business by renovating a small bar bequeathed by managing director Kitaguchi's grandmother, landlady of a restaurant in a nightlife district of Osaka.
At the start, there were only three designers and three Apple computers on a single counter. Currently there is a staff of six.
However, our criteria are still based on favorite things and favorite people. Main staff includes an art director Gaku Azuma who only draws nudes and theatrical graphics, a copywriter Mika Murakami who enjoys adding erotic poetry onto Azuma's sensual drawings, a graphic designer Tetsuo Nishimura who lives for club DJing and web producing, and a system designer/managing director Hiroyasu Kitaguchi who is “188”cm tall and somehow managed to recruit such staff members.
Other staff includes a designer Rika Morita who was offered 188's first graduate position and a system designer Takayo Yamawaki who is a huge-motorcycle fan. Does a business work with such staff? The answer is, of course, Yes!
188 provides various visual presentations for the theatre, television and other such events.
We have used responsibility, resolve and playfulness to create a business out of our favorite things.
